Started in 2022 - Te Whare Tūranga – the Rangatahi programme arm of Tūranga Tangata Consultancy Ltd - is a culmination of over 30 years of mahi and valuable experience which sees a programme designed to engage learners through a Māori lens to increase student engagement and student achievement.
In Te Whare Tūranga, we specialise in transforming the educational landscape for children under the age of 18. We bring extensive experience in supporting low decile schools, with high proportion of Māori students - implementing tailored programmes that ignite engagement, elevate academic achievement, and nurture holistic growth. Our commitment extends beyond academics; we focus on fostering a profound sense of identity, self-belief, and resilience within each student.
In Te Whare Tūranga we provide a weekly timetabled programme - every Tuesday and Thursday from 4.00pm to 6.00pm – inclusive of the school holidays - for Tūranga based rangatahi who wish to learn Kapa Haka, Mau Rākau and the richness of the stories we have of the ancestors in Tūranga. There is also a fitness component. Within Te Whare Tūranga - all ākonga can grade to a higher level if they aspire to.
What sets us apart? Our dedication to strengths-based programmes. We recognise that every young person possesses unique talents and potential. By harnessing these strengths, we cultivate an environment where students flourish, building not just skills but a strong foundation for lifelong success. Our expertise doesn't stop there – in Te Whare Tūranga adept at integrating Māori preferred learning pedagogies, ensuring cultural inclusivity and meaningful connection for all students – especially with regards to learning and teaching.
Our vision reaches beyond schools. Our dream is to empower ALL organisations working with children under 18. By offering our expertise, we're revolutionising the way young people are supported, ensuring that every interaction is meaningful, purposeful, and impactful. Whether it's schools, community centres, or extracurricular programmes, we're here to guide, elevate, and transform the experiences of young individuals.
In Te Whare Tūranga we aim to foster, nurture, and guide our future generations. Together, let's create a world where every child thrives, believes in themselves, and achieves to their full potential.
I look forward to working alongside to achieve the dreams and aspirations for the Rangatira of tomorrow.
